Huachuca Mountain Archers and Bow-hunters’ Club - Archery Shoot
Santa Rita Mountains, Pima County, Arizona
March 4th and 5th, 2017
Buck Lewis and Southern Arizona Rendezvous 3-d Archery Tournament
hosted by the Huachuca Mountain Archer and Bowhunters Club
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What: Seven volunteers from the Huachuca Gould’s Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation supported the recent Huachuca Mountain Archers and Bowhunters’ Tournament by providing meals for the shooters
When: The dates were March 4th and 5th, 2017
Where: The Archery Tournament was held on the east flank of the Santa Rita Mountains in Pima County
General Information: The Huachuca Mountain Archers and Bowhunters have supported many community events hosted by the Huachuca Gould’s Chapter with instructors and equipment. Returning the favor, the Huachuca Gould’s Chapter offered meals during the archery club’s recent 2-day tournament.
The archery shoot was held on the east flank of the Santa Rita Mountains. A grassland intermixed with Mexican oaks at around 5,000 feet in elevation provided the site for the range, kitchen, and camping. Temperatures in the high 40s and low 50s kept the early morning on Sunday a little chilly but pleasant. The cloud cover finally opened by mid-morning but was accompanied by now gusting winds over 25 miles per hours. Excuse me. In southeastern Arizona, any wind less than 30 miles per hours is considered a breeze and not a gust by the National Weather Service. Either way, just another challenge for the archers!
Egg, sausage, and cheese burritos with pastries and hot drinks warmed up the shooters in the morning. Hamburgers and hot dogs with the fixings, chips, pastries, and refreshments were the noon-day fare.
Wayne Kaiser and Tom Fuller organized supplies, equipment, and volunteers for the event. Assisting Wayne and Tom were Dave Inman, Bob Pourier, Wayne Bundza, Randy Keiller, and Tom Deecken.
