HUACHUCA GOULD’S ASSISTS LOCAL SCOUT WITH EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT
The Huachuca Gould’s Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, in cooperation with Fort Huachuca staff, assisted William Adams of Troop 464 with his Eagle Scout project on November 15th, 2025. William’s finished water development improved habitat for wildlife, especially Pronghorn, on the Fort at the base of the Huachuca Mountains in Cochise County.
This water development, near the West Gate, included installation of a 2,200-gallon storage tank with an inverted umbrella on top, a drinker box, and a buried waterline connecting both. Shane Hall, Fort Huachuca Forester, obtained the materials and supplies for the development for later staging at the work site.
After a safety briefing and a description of work to be done, the almost 40 scouts, helpers, and parents assembled the tank and umbrella, excavated a trench for the waterline, partially buried the drinker, and connected the associated plumbing. The project was completed with burying the waterline and partially filling the storage tank with water. All work was completed in about 2 hours.
Afterwards, the Huachuca Gould’s Chapter provided lunch for the participants. All enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, desserts, and refreshments.
Shane Hall, Fort Huachuca Forester, helped William organize the project and acted as liaison with Fort Huachuca personnel. Emily Schroeder assisted Shane.
Wayne Kaiser, Dave Kemnitz, Rob Bridges, John Millican, and Tom Deecken represented the Huachuca Gould’s Chapter.
Recognition for Troop 464 and helpers is deserved as well.
William Adams’ Eagle Scout project is the 5th to date that Huachuca Gould’s has supported. All have improved habitat for a variety of wildlife in southeastern Arizona.
