WITO Women’s Turkey Hunting Beginners Skill Camp

     Pre-Registration is required and Limited to the first 20 Women. Class is open to women ages 18 years and up.  Click on the National Wild Turkey Federation (veribage) to Pre-Register and purchase membership (click here -->)  National Wild Turkey Federation

      Date: April 10-12, 2026

     Timeline: Camp setup: April 10th beginning at 1400
                    April 11: Registration 0800         Event Start: 0900

     
Location: Babacomari Ranch, 514 Babacomari Ranch Road, Elgin AZ    (Watch for NWTF Huachuca Gould’s Chapter signage and see directions at the bottom of the page)                    
             
     
About the event:  This 2-day event is directed at educating women in learning all about wild turkeys, behavior, laws, calling, safety and planning a successful hunt.  Field instruction will also include patterning shotgun, id of turkey sign, listening to turkeys on roost and mock hunting scenarios.
Emphasis will be directed at providing needed skills to prepare participants develop knowledge to feel confident in identifying turkey habitat, understand behavior and successfully hunt turkeys.

     
Pre-Requisites: Cost of event: $35 NWTF membership through NWTF for event insurance purposes.  Register and purchase membership at NWTF link. Bring camp chairs, warm clothes, camo clothes, hiking boots, binoculars for Sunday field instruction, personal items.  Additional information will be sent to registered women prior to event.

     
Meals will be Provided by Huachuca Gould’s Chapter and Arizona State Turkey Chapter on: 
         Friday: Dinner          Saturday: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner          Sunday: Breakfast, Lunch

     
Camp Setup is on Private Property: Overnight camping allowed with setup beginning on Friday, April 10th, at 2PM.  RVs 30 foot or below, Tents, 2-wheel drive vehicles, with medium clearance accessible to event site.  Dry camping only.  No hookups.  Porta Pots provided.

     
Cancellation Policy: If you must cancel, please do so by March 30th to allow time to fill your spot.

      Travel 20 miles south of Tucson on I-10; turn south on Highway 83 and travel 25 miles to the town of Sonoita intersection.
     From this point turn east on Highway 82 and travel approximately 5 miles to the Upper Elgin/Canelo paved road to milepost 40.8.
     Turn south and travel to the small town of Elgin.  After crossing bridge turn left at T intersection, going south. Travel approximately .7 miles to the first left.  The dirt road has a sign signifying the Babacomari Ranch road.  Huachuca Gould’s Chapter signs will be located at intersection.
     Travel 1.90 miles on dirt road to intersection.  Go left for approximately 3.21 miles to Babacomari Ranch headquarters.  (look for signs).
     Babacomari Ranch Coordinates: UTM  551598 E  3499510 N (red pointer on map)   Decimal degree:  31.629606   -110.455911
