What is Women in the Outdoors?

Picture
What is Women in the Outdoors? Have you ever wanted to learn how to shoot a handgun or shotgun? Ever wanted to pull back a bow and arrow... just once? How about learn the proper way to paddle a canoe or cast a fly rod?

Trade your to-do list for a day for yourself — a day in the outdoors! Join thousands of women who have attended a Women in the Outdoors event and try something new.

Women in the Outdoors provides hands-on outdoor classes in a non-threatening environment so grab a girlfriend and check "me time" off your list.  You deserve a day outdoors!

Women in the Outdoors participants form new friendships by inviting others in their community to enjoy the great outdoors at events that include a variety of activities.  Since 1998, the Women in the Outdoors program events provide expert instructors to teach women a variety of fun activities women can share with their families, such as archery, outdoor cooking, camping, hunting, hiking, bird watching, digital photography, dove hunts, dutch oven cooking, fly fishing and fly tying, rappelling, simulated turkey hunts, skeet shooting, gardening for wildlife and more.

The History of Women in the Outdoors: Before the program was started, NWTF supported other female-focused outdoor skills training programs by serving as instructors, and spending nearly $19,000 from the NWTF Wild Turkey Super Fund to support the programs. Recognizing a growing demand for outdoors-related programs geared towards women, NWTF launched the Women in the Outdoors Program in 1998. The first Women in the Outdoors event was held in Junction City, Kan., with other events soon following in South Carolina, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Oregon, California and 13 other states. Since it's creation, the Women in the Outdoors program has hosted nearly 4,000 events across the United States and Canada for more than 80,000 female participants.

Why should the guys have all the fun!
