Kelly Spring Repairs in Early 2024
On February 20th, five volunteers from the Huachuca Gould’s Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation completed needed repairs of the Kelly Spring development in the Huachuca Mountains. Work included replacing leaking pipe, fitting new pipe connections and insulation, replacing the lid on the storage tank, cleaning the drinker, and modifying the collection tube at the spring source.
This water source in Hunter Canyon was originally modified for wildlife by the Chapter in February of 2002. An almost complete re-build was necessary after the Monument Fire of 2011. Additional repairs have kept water available for wildlife as well.
Participating in the work were Dave Kemnitz, Christa Manusca, Carole Peters, John Millican, and Tom Deecken.
