Huachuca Gould’s Chapter Participates in Family Day Event 2024 Family Day hosted by Southern Arizona Quail Forever was held on March 2nd , 2024, in the Sonoita Grasslands of Santa Cruz County, Arizona. Once again, the Huachuca Gould’s Chapter supported activities with a bb gun range, clay pigeon shooting, and camp amenities.
This annual event offered youth teaching stations for shooting, archery, fly fishing, bird dog handling, quail hunting tips and ethics, wildlife identification, falconry, animal husbandry, drone navigation, and K9 demonstration. Safety was always the number one priority. Southern Arizona Quail Forever provided tasty breakfasts and lunches on event day for the 100-plus participants and support volunteers as well.
Other cooperating organizations included the Green Valley Hunting and Fishing Club; Sky Island Falconry; Be Outdoors Arizona; Arizona State Highway Patrol, Canine Unit; Darling Geometrics; and Forever Home Donkey Rescue and Sanctuary.

• Basic take of wildlife, 1-day event, pass shooting, species include dove, ducks, squirrel. Beginner — a person who is inexperienced; novice; a person who has begun a course of instruction or is learning the fundamentals:
• Skill Meter: 1-5
• Mentoring Meter: 7-10
About the Event - Learn trap shooting, archery, BB gun range, wildlife biology, falconry, fly fishing, live bird dog hunt demonstration and more. Gear, instruction and free breakfast & lunch provided.

About the Location: Camp is located at the Empire Ranch Airstrip Group Campsite (31.790403, -110.631404). From Tucson take I-10 east to Highway 83. Take Highway 83 south to Empire Ranch Rd and turn east. Continue until you hit the T intersection. Turn north at the T intersection and continue to the campsite. The route will have signs. Pit toilets and a single water spigot will be available, however there is no electricity. The site can accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs.
DETAILS Requirements Important: Registration is required for each person in the party attending the event due to capacity and resources.

If you are interested, just contact the camp host and let them know. We are always seeking out mentors and volunteers as well.
